On the evening of March 5, PKU-DSLLH 31th, as well as the launching ceremony of the second series of the lecture hall’s new book Twelve General Education Courses by Peking University Professors, was successfully held at the Lingang Children's Palace Theater. As the former Vice President of Peking University, Chief Economist of the Institute of Digital Economy, Peking University, member of the CCF China Digital Economy 50 Persons Forum, and consulting expert of the National E-sports Development Research Institute of China Media Group, Professor Zhang Guoyou was invited to Dishui Lake. With the theme The Digital Engine: Driving Economic Upgrading and Restructuring, he delivered an incisive and accessible academic sharing to the citizens of the Lingang Special Area.

At the start of the event, Min Yanyun, Director of the General Publishing Center of Peking University Press, briefed the audience on the publication and distribution of PKU-DSLLH book series. The series collects highlights from the first to the 23rd lectures. The first volume, Peking University Humanities Lectures for Young People, has been reprinted 10 times since its launch in July 2024, with a total print run exceeding 20,000 copies. The second volume launched this time, Twelve Liberal Arts Courses by Peking University Professors, came out last December and was reprinted in the same month, fully demonstrating the cultural market’s strong recognition of the series and PKU-DSLLH brand.

During the book launch ceremony, Jiang Jing, Director of the Party-Mass Work Department of the Lingang Special Area Administrative Committee, Yao Weihao, Director of Office of Science and Technology Development, Peking University and Director of Peking University International Sci-Tech Innovation Center at Lin-gang Special Area, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (PKU-IICSH, or the Center) , Li Wensheng, Director of the Peking University Alumni Association and Vice President and Secretary-General of the Peking University Alumni Association, Xi Zhizhong, Party Secretary and Executive Director of Shanghai Harbour City Development(Group)Co.,Ltd, Min Yanyun, Director of the General Publishing Center of Peking University Press, and representatives of the on-site audience jointly launched the second book.

To promote the integration of outstanding humanities and social science content into citizens’ daily lives, Zhao Yihuai, Member of Party Working Committee of Lin-gang Special Area and Full-time Deputy Director of Lin-gang Special Area Administration, and Xia Hongwei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Peking University Press, jointly presented books to relevant educational and cultural institutions in Lingang Special Area as well as enthusiastic audience members, including Shanghai Dishui Lake School, Dishui Lake AI Innovation Port, and Nanhui Xincheng Town Library.

In his lecture, Prof. Zhang centered on the theme Digital Technology Driving Economic Upgrading and Restructuring. With vivid cases from industrial manufacturing, government administration, daily services and other fields, he systematically explained the inherent logic and development trends of the digital economy era. Using practical examples such as internet collaboration platforms and hazardous waste recycling, he revealed that digital technology has not only brought efficiency upgrading, but also given rise to restructuring in resource allocation and industrial forms, whose core lies in the new value network created by data connectivity and platform ecosystems.

Before the lecture, Zhao Yihuai presented a commemorative plaque to Prof. Zhang. More than 400 participants from various fields attended the event, including staff from Office of Humanities Social Sciences, Peking University, PKU-IICSH, Peking University Alumni, university students in the Lingang Special Area, and audience registered online.

Since its first session in August 2023, PKU-DSLLH has invited famous scholars from Peking University to deliver 31 lectures by Dishui Lake, attracting more than 12,000 on-site participants in total and over 2 million views via online live streaming.  Before the event, Prof. Zhang visited PKU-IICSH on site, toured the Party and Mass Service Center on the first floor, and gave kind guidance on the development of PKU-IICSH.

PKU-DSLLH is a series of lectures initiated by PKU-IICSH, jointly with the Office of Science and Technology Development and Office of Humanities Social Sciences, Peking University under the initiative and support of Lin-gang Special Area Administration. It is deeply involved by units such as Peking University Press and the Peking University Alumni Association. Relying on Peking University's profound academic accumulation and expert resources in the fields of humanities and social sciences, it focuses on economic development, humanistic art, and social governance.

Since August 2023, well-known professors or experts from Peking University was invited to Lingang Special Area monthly to give special lectures and have in-depth exchanges with the builders of the Lingang Special Area, promoting the aggregation of high-quality humanities and social science resources from Peking University in Lingang, effectively enhancing the cultural image and urban competitiveness of the Lingang Special Area, and better meeting the diverse and high-quality spiritual and cultural needs of the people. The PKU-DSLLH has become an important cultural brand activity in the Lingang Special Area, allowing every Lingang striver to release their youthful passion, pursue their youthful dreams, and achieve all-round development in the nourishment of culture, and outlining a richer cultural texture and injecting stronger spiritual strength into the Young City for the Youth.
