From June 23 to 26, a 32-member delegation of faculty and students from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), Peking University, led by Ms. Fu Xiaoqian from the Student Affairs Office and Counselor Xiao Bangjun, visited the Lingang Special Area for a three-and-a-half-day ideological and political practice program. With the innovati ve development of the Lingang Special Area as the central theme, the delegation was warmly received by Peking University International Sci-Tech Innovation Center at Lin-gang Special Area, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (PKU-IICSH). They visited a series of iconic exhibition halls and industrial parks, including Duoyun Bookstore, Dishui Lake AI Innovation Port, Minlian Lingang Park, and Lingang Commercial Aircraft Park. The group also toured key local enterprises such as Tooling Tech, AMEC, and GE Aerospace. Through field visits and symposiums, the students gained an in-depth understanding of the development status of cutting-edge science and technology industries, experienced firsthand the vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of the Lingang Special Area, and deepened their comprehension of technological achievement transformation and high-quality development.

At Dishui Lake AI Innovation Port—a key AI industrial cluster strategically developed in the Lingang Special Area—the EECS faculty and students toured multiple technology exhibition centers, learning about innovative outcomes in intelligent driving, smart healthcare, industrial robotics, and other fields. This experience helped them gain a clearer insight into the value of their academic disciplines in future industrial development. During their visit to Lingang Commercial Aircraft Park, the delegation toured GE Aerospace and participated in a seminar on the civil aviation industry. Discussions with industry experts on topics such as aviation materials, avionics systems, and intelligent manufacturing deepened the students’ understanding of Lingang’s internationalized innovation ecosystem.

On the morning of June 26, Dr. Lin Yilun, Director of the Trustworthy Parallel Intelligence Research Center at PKU-IICSH, introduced the inaugural Shanghai The 1st Shanghai YanYuan Dishui Lake Collegiate AI+Internaional Startup Challenge. As a special college student entrepreneurship segment of the Yanyuan International Sci-Tech Innovation Competition, it aims to combine on-site visits with competition incentives to stimulate students’ intrinsic motivation to apply their academic knowledge to innovative practices. Speaking at the subsequent closing ceremony, Dr. Lin noted that this distinctive activity, integrating technological innovation with ideological and political education, marks a new starting point for young students to engage in the country’s strategic emerging industries. He emphasized that PKU-IICSH will continue to refine its talent development system and create more high-quality practical resources for Peking University students.

Going forward, PKU-IICSH will continue to fully fulfill its role as the Ideological and Political Practice Education Base for Peking University Students, continuing to lead outstanding EECS students to conduct in-depth visits to the Lingang Special Area every summer vacation. It will fully support the region’s talent attraction and recruitment initiative, enabling more Peking University students to experience the vibrant dynamism of Lingang—a "YOUNG CITY FOR THE YOUTH". Meanwhile, through practical engagement, students will further deepen their understanding of technological achievement commercialization, industrial transformation, and their role in empowering high-quality development. PKU-IICSH is committed to providing Peking University students with more diverse, high-standard internship and employment opportunities in the cutting-edge technology sector.
