In the afternoon on Sep. 28, 2021, Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang visited Peking University and attended the Shanghai-PKU cooperation workshop held at the Moonlight Hall of Yingjie Exchange Center. PKU Party Secretary Qiu Shuiping and President Hao Ping accompanied him on the tour and attended the workshop. Qiu Shuiping chaired the workshop.

The parties communicated their wishes to go ahead hand in hand and jointly promote closer win-win cooperation on all fronts. Shanghai will become a better place to explore the reform of higher education, draw lessons from PKU’s experience, and urge the Shanghai-based universities and colleges to stick to the right path while making innovation by combining China’s and other countries’ good practices and learning widely from others' strong points and to become world-class universities with Chinese characteristics. The China’s first-tier city and the top university vowed to team up to achieve disruptive innovations in basic sciences and game-changing breakthroughs in key and core technologies, and to build the Peking University International Innovation Center, Lin-gang Special Area into a landmark project of city-university cooperation.
