On December 21st, 2023, the fifth lecture of the Peking University Dishui Lake Lecture Hall (PKU-DSLLH) was successfully held. Wang Jisi, Founding President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at Peking University, Peking University Boya Chair Professor Emeritus, Professor in the School of International Studies at Peking University was invited to give a special lecture on the topic A Rational Analysis and Historical Experience of China-US Relations(《中美关系的理性分析和历史经验》).

During the lecture, Professor Wang Jisi vividly illustrated the trends in global politics, the history of China-US relations development, and provided an insightful analysis of different perspectives on China-US relations and the cruxes in the current relations with detailed examples.

Professor Wang Jisi pointed out that China-US relations are characterized by comprehensive, long-term competition in areas such as technology, talent, and industry, while also involving frequent interactions due to economic and trade relations, cultural exchanges, and the resumption of direct flights. To comprehensively and objectively summarize the historical experiences of China-US relations and look forward to their future, it is necessary to analyze the dimensions of power differences, ideological and cultural differences, global political situations, and domestic political changes in both countries. Any explanation from a single perspective would be biased.

During the Q&A session, Professor Wang Jisi responded to questions from the audience regarding "how to increase the attraction to foreign investment" and "how to view China-US economic development trend", creating a lively atmosphere of interaction.

A total of more than 300 people participated in this event, including the Department of Party-People Affaris, Lin-gang Special Area Administration (LSAA), Peking University Shanghai Lin-gang International Science and Technology Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH), Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd. (“Lingang Group”), as well as representatives from Peking University Alumni Association, students from universities in the special area, and online registered participants.

After the lecture, Gong Hongbing, member of the Party Working Committee of Lin-gang Special Area met with Professor Wang Jisi, and presented him with a commemorative plaque as the fifth lecturer of PKU-DSLLH.
