On February 29th, 2024, the seventh lecture of the Peking University Dishui Lake Lecture Hall (PKU-DSLLH) was successfully held. Professor Peng Feng, Dean of School of Arts at Peking University was invited to give a special lecture on the topic Aesthetics and the Good Life(《美学与美好生活》), elaborating on issues such as "What is beauty," "What is aesthetics," "Aestheticization of daily life," and "The three elements of a good life."

During the lecture, Professor Peng Feng provided a detailed introduction to various aesthetic orientations such as cognition, games, and passions, using rich images, detailed information, and interesting stories. He discussed the main factors influencing aesthetic judgments, including biological laws, cultural habits, and personal strategies. He explained the comprehensive process of aestheticization in a clear and accessible manner, illustrating the profound impact of aestheticization on societal appearance, economic life, social reality, the animal and plant world, the material world, ethical life, and even the future of post-humanity.

Professor Peng Feng pointed out that beauty is the manifestation of things in a state without concepts. Appreciating beauty can inspire people to lead beautiful lives and life journeys. Ultimately, a beautiful life is about various unique yet similar life experiences.

During the Q&A session, Professor Peng Feng engaged in lively interactions with the audience, responding to questions about "Suggestions for aesthetic education for primary and secondary school students," "How humans form their own aesthetic orientations during the evolutionary process," and "Whether aesthetic judgments can be controlled by humans." These discussions created a vibrant atmosphere of interaction.

Zhu Xuming, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Party Working Committee of Lin-gang Special Area (LSAA), Deputy Party Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanhui New Town, and Mayor of Nanhui New Town met with Professor Peng Feng, and presented him with a commemorative plaque as the seventh lecturer of PKU-DSLLH.

Before the lecture, Professor Peng Feng conducted on-site inspections at PKU-IICSH and provided guidance on the center's development.

Initiated with the support of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Lin-gang Speacial Area Administration (hereinafter referred to as Lin-gang Special Area, or LSAA), Peking University Dishui Lake Lecture Hall (PKU-DSLLH) is a collaborative effort involving Peking University Intertional Innovational Center, Lin-gang Special Area, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (PKU-IICSH), Peking University Office of Science and Technology Development, and Office of Humanities and Social Science, and enjoying an active participation from Peking University Press, Peking University Alumni Association, and other relevant offices and departments. Leveraging Peking University's profound academic foundation and expert resources in the humanities and social sciences, PKU-DSLLH focuses on key areas including economic development, humanities and arts, and social governance.

Since August 2023, PKU-DSLLH has been hosting monthly lectures featuring renowned professors or expert scholars from Peking University, who provide specialized lectures and engage in in-depth discussions with residents in Lin-gang. This initiative aims to facilitate the concentration of high-quality humanities and social science resources from Peking University in Lingang, effectively enhancing the cultural image and urban competitiveness of the Lin-gang Special Area.
