On March 20th, 2024, SEMICON China 2024 officially kicked off in Shanghai. As the largest, highest specification, most influential, and latest technology hotspot carnival in the semiconductor industry worldwide, this year's SEMICON China covers an exhibition area of nearly 90,000 square meters, featuring 1,100 exhibitors, 4,500 booths, and more than 20 concurrent conferences and activities. On March 22nd, the SEMI Workforce CXO Talent Forum was held, inviting executives from the industry and representatives from academia to jointly discuss talent development issues in China's integrated circuit industry and provide strategic guidance for the industry's future. Wang Yu, Executive Director of Peking University Shanghai Lin-gang International Science and Technology Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH), was invited to participate in the forum as the representative of a technology innovation platform serving the integrated circuit field.

The meeting was chaired by Xu Ruosong, VP, Chairman & President of China region, Kokusai-Electric Corp, Vice Chairman & Secretary-General of Truth Semi Group. Lung Chu, President, SEMI China; Vice President, SEMI, welcomed all the speakers, guests, experts from home and abroad in attendance. Lung Chu pointed out that facing the various challenges in the current environment, "the market being the king, innovation the right path, and talent the top priority" are the ways for the Chinese semiconductor industry to move forward. In order to help the industry attract more outstanding semiconductor talents, SEMI globally promotes the "Workforce Development" and cooperates closely with the semiconductor industry and government departments to ensure the industry's innovation and sustainable development by attracting, cultivating, and retaining talents.

During the roundtable discussion at the summit, Wang Yu, Executive Director of PKU-IICSH, together with Guo Yiwu, Secretary-General of Shanghai Integrated Circut Industry Association, Wang Zhe, Director of IC Talent Valley Project Office of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Talent Exchange Center, and Xu Jian, General Manager of Edwards Technologies Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., jointly discussed the topic of "how to establish talent training programs that adapt to the development of new technologies." The guests respectively shared and discussed constructive insights on key issues such as the application of new technologies in talent training, balancing theory and practice, integrating the Industry-University-Research in cooperation between enterprises and colleges, strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, and personalized student training.

SEMI China has set up the WFD (Workforce Development) Zone at the SEMICON China venue, and concurrently held the Workforce CXO Talent Forum, aiming to explore how to ensure the innovation and sustainable development of the semiconductor industry through talent.
