On November 8th, 2023, the second edition of "Technology + Industry" Seminar, Medical Session, was successfully hosted by Peking University Shanghai Lin-gang International Science and Technology Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH) in collaboration with Shanghai Lingang Fengxian Economic Development Co., Ltd (hereafter Lingang Fengxian). With a signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between the PKU-IICSH and Lingang Fengxian. More than 40 experts and scholars from various schools, departments, and affiliated hospitals of Peking University Health Science Center, as well as representatives from Peking University Office of Science and Technology Development, Business Affairs Management Office/Technology Transfer Office of Peking University Health Science Center, Peking University Chongqing Research Institute of Big Data, Peking University Ningbo Institute of Marin Medicine, and cooperative units of PKU-IICSH, along with representatives from Blue Bay World Industrial Park and some well-known enterprises, totaling over 70 participants attended the event.
The Medical Session aims to promote in-depth communication and cooperation between Peking University's medical innovation resources and the biopharmaceutical industry in Lin-gang Special Area, fostering the role of PKU-IICSH in the construction of the biopharmaceutical industry innovation ecosystem in Lin-gang Special Area.
The attended guests was introduced to the "Dishui Cloud Hall" in Lin-gang Special Area. Under the guidance of Gu Changshi, Director of the Lin-gang Special Area Investment Promotion Service Center, LSAA, they explored the achievements in urban construction and industrial ecological development in Lin-gang Special Area, gaining a deep understanding of the national strategic tasks undertaken by the area. The rapid development pace of the special area and the urban development concept of creating a "Young City for the Youth" left a profound impression on everyone.

Visiting and Inspecting PKU-IICSH, Learn About New Achievements in University-Industry Collaboration
Xiao Yuan, Vice President of Peking University Health Science Center and Chairman of PKU-IICSH, stated in his speech that the Lin-gang Special Area is a major national strategy personally that is planned, deployed, and promoted by Chinese president Xi Jinping. The establishment of PKU-IICSH is a practical measure taken by Peking University and Shanghai Municipality to implement Xi Jinping's "Five Important" directives. He hopes that the center will make good use of the various advantages of the special area, provide abundant resources, vast space, and more cooperation opportunities for Peking University's medical research teams, and work together to build PKU-IICSH into a benchmark project for Peking University's technology transfer and school-local cooperation.
Yao Weihao, Head of Office of Science and Technology Development (OSTD) at Peking University and Director of PKU-IICSH, introduced the background, organizational structure, incubation model, and programs in incuvation of the center to the attending experts. He expressed that the center will continue to focus on benchmark incubators in terms of innovation chains, industry chains, capital chains, talent chains, policy chains, etc. The goal is to construct a new type of research and development institution with an open innovation ecosystem, accelerating the integrated development of government, industry, academia, research, and funds.
Visiting Blue Bay World: Understanding the Medical and Health Industry in Lin-gang Special Area
During the event, the attending guests visited the Blue Bay World Industrial Park, toured the Blue Bay World exhibition hall and the Lin-gang laboratory of ATLATL, one of the strategic partners of PKU-IICSH. They also engaged in discussions and exchanges with park leaders and representatives of well-known entrepreneurs in the pharmaceutical field. The participants collectively witnessed the signing ceremony for the strategic cooperation between PKU-IICSH and Lingang Fengxian.
During the seminar, Qu Xia, Chief Planner of Blue Bay World and General Manager of Blue Bay Fund, welcomed all the guests on behalf of Shanghai Lingang Fengxian Economic Development Co., Ltd. She expressed warm welcome for the holding of this seminar, considering it as an important practice for the deepening cooperation between the university's scientific and technological innovation platform and the industrial park. Blue Bay World will continue to leverage its resource advantages in the biopharmaceutical industry chain to provide comprehensive support for Peking University's medical research team in areas such as innovation and transformation in the park.
Subsequently, PKU-IICSH and Lingang Fengxian signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will further deepen their collaboration in biopharmaceutical achievement transformation and industrial innovation, working together to promote the transformation of more high-quality scientific research results.
Director Gu Changshi provided an interpretation of the advantageous location, industrial layout, and supporting policies of Lin-gang Special Area.
Liu Mingquan, Director of Technology and Innovation Service Department of Lingang Fengxian gave a detailed explanation of the industrial system, hardware support, and supporting services in the Blue Bay World Industrial Park.
During the discussion session, representatives from well-known companies such as Junshi Biosciences, CanSinoBIO, HeartCare Medical, and experts like Dr. Li Dai, an attending physician at Peking University Third Hospital, shared their respective insights into the business development, cerebral vascular treatment technology, and collaboration intentions in areas such as intelligent hardware development for sports rehabilitation.
PKU-IICSH will regularly organize the "Technology + Industry" series of seminar. In the future, it will continue to focus on key areas of scientific and technological innovation, providing a high-quality collaborative platform for cross-disciplinary exchange and cooperation between technology and industry. This initiative aims to further improve the efficiency of technology transfer, promote the cultivation of high-quality technology enterprises, and contribute to the establishment of Lin-gang Special Area as a global hub for science, technology, and industry.
