On the afternoon of November 5th, 2024, the Fifth Session of Advanced Seminar for Middle Age University Leaders Shanghai Research Group of National Academy of Education Administration (hereafter referred to as "the research group") visited Peking University International S&T Innovation Center at Lin-gang Special Area, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (PKU-IICSH) and other key sites of Lin-gang Special Area for an investigation. The visit aimed to learn about the planning and development progress of the Pilot Free Trade Zone and examine the role of new R&D institutions in driving innovation and nurturing industries. The research group was warmly received by representatives from PKU-IICSH, including Yao Weihao, Head of Office of Science and Technology Development, Peking University and Director of PKU-IICSH, Wang Yu, Executive Director of PKU-IICSH, and Zhang Weiwei, Deputy Director of PKU-IICSH.
The research group toured the Peking University Lin-gang Party-Mass Service Center and PWA Instrumentation & Service Center for Biomedicine. During the seminar, Yao Weihao warmly welcomed their visit, followed by a report delivered by Wang Yu on PKU-IICSH’s work over the past year since its establishment. The report highlighted PKU-IICSH’s operational structure and management mechanisms, the incubation model for various types of projects, services for the development of high-tech industries in Lin-gang Special Area, the establishment of public service platforms, the formation of venture capital funds, and the development of cultural brands and international layout.
Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on various topics, such as how remote research institutions can empower the transformation of sci-tech achievements and regional innovation development, the role of specialized technology transfer institutions in universities, the construction of sci-tech achievements transformation funds, how to innovate the transformation mechanism, and how to conduct organized research and achievements transformation to promote the integration of technological and industrial innovation.
Before the seminar, the research group paid their visit to Dishui Cloud Hall and Duoyun Bookstore at Dishui Lake to view related exhibitions and conduct an comprehensive on-site investigation on the urban planning, industrial layout, living infrastructure, and ecological landscape of Lin-gang Special Area.
