The Institute of Earth and Space Technology (referred to as "IEST" or the "Institute") is the first research institute established by Peking University Lin-gang International S&T Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH), marking a new attempt of PKU-IICSH at sub-platform development model. Based on the research outcomes of "Spatiotemporal Encoding and Intelligent Computing Joint Laboratory" from the School of Earth and Space Sciences, Peking University, IEST is an initiative aimed at further opening up for collaboration and fostering innovation, as well as PKU-IICSH’s new measure to support the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces. In the early stage, the Institute will focus on seven key areas: trusted dataspaces, spatiotemporal AI, unmanned systems, emergency technologies, innovative mineral applications, remote sensing technologies, and digital economy. These areas align perfectly with the future industrial layout of Lin-gang Special Area, which features four key future industries: technology, space, energy, and health. The Institute is committed to collaborating with various investment institutions, enterprises, and research organizations that possess at least one of the essential industrialization elements, such as technology, capital, application scenarios, and market promotion capabilities. The Collaboration modes include joint laboratories, special R&D projects, and co-application for projects. IEST has already established a ten-million partnership with Yan'an Big Data Operation Co., Ltd. to found the "Joint Laboratory for Digital Economy .”
