On the evening of March 14, the 22nd lecture of Peking University Dishui Lake Lecture (PKU-DSLLH) was successfully held. At the lecture, Prof. He conducted an in-depth analysis through six phenomenal works — To the Wonder, She and Her Girls, Imperfect Victim, Her Story, Song of Spring, and Like a Rolling Stone — examining three core dimensions: "the cultural phenomenon of female-themed screen works", "narrative innovation through Herstory", and "the reconstruction of motherhood archetypes". The recent surge in "female-themed TV series" and "she-cinema" reflects the rise of female production groups. By narrating women's issues from female perspectives and shaping new subjectivities for female characters, these works fundamentally mirror the profound transformation of gender equality awareness in contemporary Chinese society.

Prof. He emphasized that gender equality, as a crucial dimension of China's narratives in the new era, centers on achieving "substantive equality where individuals are neither deprived of nor granted privileges based on gender differences." When narrating pluralistic yet integrated Chinese stories, she advocated for excavating gender perspectives to construct more inclusive and humanistically warm Chinese narratives.

During the interactive Q&A session, Prof. He addressed inquiries regarding "how female-themed screen works influence suburban and rural audiences" and "whether female character portrayals replicate traditional masculine traits." She emphasized that distinct media formats must confront their unique expressive boundaries and social realities. While long-form videos (e.g., films/TV series) and short videos each possess distinct narrative boundaries, scholarly research prioritizes how complete narratives explore social gender imaginaries. Cultural dissemination, she argued, should leverage authentic stories to engage grassroots audiences emotionally. Regarding debates on feminine qualities, Prof. He firmly rejected framing traits like "strength" and "freedom" as exclusively masculine. She highlighted that contemporary Chinese female representations are transcending conventional "fragility" stereotypes, instead cultivating a distinctive "sense of authentic ease".

Zhu Xuming, Party Secretary of the Comprehensive Party Committee of Lin-gang Special Area, presented Prof. He with a commemorative plaque for the lecture. Over 200 audiences participated on-site, while new media platforms cumulatively attracted more than 4,000 online viewer engagements.

Before the lecture, Professor He Guimei conducted an on-site inspection of PKU-IICSH, visited the Party-Mass Service Center and PWA Instrumentation & Service Center for Biomedicine, and offered her kind guidance to the center's development.
