On April 10, a delegation (hereinafter referred to as the "visiting group") consisting of teachers and students of the CAMPUS ASIA Program, headed by Kang Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University School of International Studies (PKU SIS), Dong Zhaohua, Deputy Dean, Chen Fang, Deputy Director of the International Programs Office, and Xu Jiaqi, Administrative Supervisor of the CAMPUS ASIA China Secretariat, conducted an in-depth practice visit to Lingang Special Area with the theme of "Technological Innovation and Regional Development". Wang Yu, Executive Director of Peking University International Sci-Tech Innovation Center at Lin-gang Special Area, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (PKU-IICSH), and Hu Yingxin, Assistant Director of PKU-IICSH , warmly received the students from South Korea, Japan, France and other regions. They led the visiting group to tour high-tech enterprises, industrial bases and sci-tech innovation platforms, enabling the group to gain first-hand insight into the cutting-edge trends of China’s high-quality development and deepen their understanding of Lingang’s development speed and technological innovation.

In the morning, the visiting group first visited the Lingang Industrial Base of Shanghai SIASUN Robot & Automation Co., Ltd. As a leading enterprise in China’s robotics industry, SIASUN showcased its latest achievements in industrial automation, intelligent logistics, collaborative robots and other domains. Students observed the manufacturing process of high-end equipment up close and engaged in discussions with technical staff on the integration trend of artificial intelligence and industrial upgrading.

Subsequently, the group proceeded to Dishui Cloud Hall, a landmark building in Lingang, to get a panoramic view of the special area. They learned about Lingang Special Area’s layout and planning for free trade zone policies, international shipping hub construction and PKU-IICSH development, and directly felt the development vitality of this "city of the future".

In the afternoon, the visiting group arrived at PKU-IICSH.Through exchanges on this landmark university-local cooperation initiative and the INNO-YES, they learned about Peking University’s new ideas and progress in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, which inspired the students to reflect on the integrated development of technological innovation and industrial innovation.

The final stop of the itinerary was Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd(COMAC). The visiting group entered the production line of domestic large aircraft, listened to stories of technological breakthroughs and international cooperation behind the R&D of the C909, and toured the C919 assembly line, deeply grasping the important significance of high-end manufacturing to national strategic development.
As a higher education cooperation program jointly promoted by the governments of China, Japan and South Korea, CAMPUS ASIA aims to facilitate academic exchanges and talent cultivation among top universities in East Asia. As a key component of the program’s practical teaching, the Lingang trip attracted 15 students majoring in international relations and related fields from China, Japan, South Korea and multiple Southeast Asian countries. To better cultivate interdisciplinary talents with international perspectives, this visit broke classroom boundaries and took the students to the frontline of Lingang’s high-tech enterprises and sci-tech innovation institutions, allowing them to fully experience the vibrant driving force of technological innovation under globalization.

In the future, PKU-IICSH will continue to perform its functions as an off-campus scientific research institution of Peking University and provide high-quality services for PKU teachers and students to carry out off-campus practices. Meanwhile, as a designated unit of the Shanghai Youth Innovation Laboratory, it will organize more outstanding PKU students to visit Shanghai and understand Lingang Special Area, helping more young talents grow into the backbone of promoting regional sustainable development through international exchanges and field research.
