On July 15, 2023, Gong Qihuang, president of Peking University led a delegation to Shanghai to attend the unveiling ceremony of Peking University Shanghai Lin-gang International Science and Technology Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH, or "the center"). Chen Jinshan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Party working committee of Lin-gang Special Area, and Director of Lin-gang Special Area Administration; Wang Bo, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Peking University, Vice President and Provost of Peking University; Sun Qingwei, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Peking University, Vice President of Peking University, and Secretary-General; Tang Hao, member of the Party Working Committee of the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, and Deputy Director of Lin-gang Special Area Administration, attended the unveiling ceremony.
The unveiling ceremony was hosted by Yao Weihao, Director of PKU-IICSH and Head of Peking University Office of Science and Technology Development.
During the unveiling ceremony, Tang Hao and Sun Qingwei delivered speeches on behalf of the Lin-gang Special Area Administration (LSAA) and Peking University, respectively.
Subsequently, Gong Qihuang and Chen Jinshan jointly unveiled the Peking University Shanghai Lin-gang International Science and Technology Innovation Center.
In the presence of Gong Qihuang and Chen Jinshan, Wang Bo and Tang Hao jointly unveiled the "Party Service Center."
During the ceremony, the center together with Shanghai Yangtze Delta Innovation Institute, Shanghai Technology Exchange International Trading Center, Lingang LKC Investment, China Unicom Shanghai, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Shanghai Free Trade ZoneSpecial Area Branch, SenseTime, International Data Port, ATLATL(Lin-gang ), and Kingsun Investment a total of 9 units, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on-site to jointly build a technological innovation ecosystem.
The unveiling ceremony of PKU-IICSH was attended by officials and comerades from LSAA's departments and divisions, including the Administrative Office, Department of Party-People Affairs, Development and Reform Division, the Division of High-tech Industries and Science and Technology Innovation, and Finance and Trade Division, etc; officials and representatives from Peking University's College of Engineering, College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, School of Intelligence Science and Technology, School of Integrated Circuits, Wangxuan Institute of Computer Technology, Peking University First Hospital, Peking University People's Hospital, and Peking University Third Hospital; as well as representatives from relevant functional departments, some offsite research institutions, representatives of planned projects to settle in, representatives of the council, supervisory board and expert committee of PKU-IICSH, representatives from the academic, industrial, and investment sectors, alumni resource platforms, and sister platforms in Lin-gang, totaling over a hundred individuals, attended the event.
This unveiling ceremony marks an important milestone in the development of the center. PKU-IICSH will fully leverage the advantages of a new type of research and development institution, gather technological innovation resources, benchmark incubator operation mechanisms, and strive to build itself into a first-class technological innovation platform with international influence. It aims to be a pioneer in reform and opening up, a leader in innovative development, and to serve the industrial innovation and development of the Lin-gang Special Area, contributing to Shanghai's goal of constructing a globally influential science and technology innovation center.
