On the afternoon of October 27th, The inaugural edition of "Technology + Industry" Theme Forum, along with the signing and unveiling ceremony of the New Structural Materials Technology R&D Center was successfully held at Peking University Shanghai Lin-gang International Science and Technology Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH). The forum focused on "New Structural Materials and Achievements Transformation in Industries such as Automobiles and Energy." Guided by the Division of High-tech Industries and Science and Technology Innovation, Lin-gang Special Area Administration (LSAA), the event was organized by PKU-IICSH, with the New Structural Materials Technology R&D Center as the host. It was co-organized by Yanyuan Fund, Union of Finance Alumni of Peking University, and Taizhou Keju New Material Technology Research Institute.
Wang Yu, Executive Director of PKU-IICSH, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the center. He stated that the success of this forum is an important event in the development of the center. In the future, the center will continue to gather scientific and technological innovation resources and make new contributions to the construction of Shanghai as a globally influential science and technology innovation center.
Zhao Gang, Researcher of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS, Doctoral Supervisor, recipient of the National Fund for Distinguished Youth, and winner of the first prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, was invited to give a keynote speech as an expert. In his presentation titled "Lightweight and High-Strength Polymethacrylimide (PMI) Materials," Researcher Zhao elaborated on the current status of PMI materials in China and showcased the preliminary research and progress in PMI foam plastics.
Zhang Weiwei, Assistant Director of PKU-IICSH provided an overview of the center, highlighting its organizational structure, incubation model, service system, and programs in incubation. He stated that the center will continue to build and integrate the development of a sci-tech innovation ecosystem around innovation chains, industry chains, capital chains, talent chains, policy chains, etc., in order to enhance the efficiency of technology transfer.
Bai Shulin, Executive Director of Institute of New Structural Materials at Peking University, Professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering at Peking University, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the New Structural Materials Technology R&D Center of PKU-IICSH, addressed the audience. He outlined clear goals and plans for the future development of New Structural Materials Technology R&D Center. The center will focus on aerospace new materials, electric vehicles, new energy, and other professional technologies as core achievements for transformation goals. The center will be established through domestic and international cooperation to become a talent training, new material research, and achievement transformation base for structural materials and functional materials.
The unveiling ceremony for the New Structural Materials Technology R&D Center and the signing ceremony for the project were subsequently held. Yao Weihao and Bai Shulin unveiled the center, with Zhao Gang and Chen Haitao, from the Division of High-tech Industries and Science and Technology Innovation, LSAA, witnessing the project signing. The signed projects involve multiple areas, including transparent materials, explosion-proof additives for lithium batteries, high-performance water-based resins for automobiles, unmanned driving and automotive new materials, and collaborative incubation of new materials with Green Support, etc.
After the ceremony, Wei Guoxian from the Division of High-tech Industries and Science and Technology Innovation, LSAA, elaborated on the goals, achievements and the industrial system of Lin-gang Special Area, as well as policies supporting innovation and entrepreneurship.
After the policy briefing, the themed project presentation session started. Seven experts from relevant fields such as research on new structural materials and industry discussed and explored topics related to the forum theme, including the current status of their respective projects, project progress, technological innovations, and future potential.
Experts and scholars from various universities and institutes such as Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS; Institute of Geology and Geophysics, CAS; The National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE); Shanghai Zhu Guangya Strategic Technology Institute; Tongji University; Shanghai Normal University; Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Shanghai University of Electric Powe; Yangzhou University as well as representatives from financial institutions such as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Shanghai Free Trade Zone Special Area Branch, Agricultural Bank of China Shanghai Free Trade Zone Special Area Branch, GF Securities, Phoenix Tree Capital Group, Yuanhai Private Equity Fund Management, and Unicom Fund, totaling more than 60 people, participated in this event.
