On the afternoon of August 2, 2024, representatives from Peking University Lin-gang International S&T Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH) and its affiliated equity fund management platform Yanyuan Fund paid a visit to the National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE) and engaged in an in-depth discussion on further cooperation. The meeting was attended by Liu Qing, Director of NICE; Yao Weihao, Head of Office of Science and Technology Development of Peking University and Director of PKU-IICSH; Wang Yu, Executive Director of PKU-IICSH; Zhang Weiwei, Deputy Director of PKU-IICSH; and Li Jun, General Manager and Managing Partner of Yanyuan Fund.
Yao Weihao expressed his high recognition of the existing collaborative projects between the two parties and his gratitude to NICE for supporting PKU-IICSH's development. Li Jun updated the attendees on the progress made by Yanyuan Fund on establishing a sci-tech achievements transformation fund at PKU-IICSH. Wang Yu focused on PKU-IICSH's efforts in promoting the low-altitude economy industry and proposed suggestions for collaboration with NICE in terms of technology, industry, and ecology. Zhang Weiwei introduced key projects for potential joint cultivation with NICE based on a "Government-VC Collaborative Funding" model.
After carefully listening to the work summary, Liu Qing highly praised the progress of PKU-IICSH's development and noted that NICE has always attached great importance to its collaboration with Peking University, which can be demonstrated by its numerous cooperation with Peking University. For instance, in May 2017, NICE signed a tripartite agreement with Peking University and the Changshu Municipal People's Government to jointly establish the Sunan Institute for Molecular Engineering, PKU. At the end of 2023, NICE supported Sunan Institute for Molecular Engineering, PKU to establish a frontier technology concept verification center in Beijing. In May 2023, NICE facilitated the establishment of Yangtze Delta Optoelectronics Technology Innovation Center, cooperating with Peking University Yangtze Delta Institute of Optoelectronics. Since the establishment of Shanghai Yangtze Delta Innovation Institute as a joint result of PKU-IICSH and NICE in July 2023, the two parties have promoted multiple collaborations, forming excellent strategic synergy. In the future, NICE will place greater emphasis on cooperation with Peking University and PKU-IICSH, leveraging their respective advantages, integrating various innovation elements, and advancing the synergic development of "education, science and technology, and talent." The collaboration will further cultivate new, quality productive forces that support and guide high-quality development in technology and industry.
