On July 24, 2024, the launching ceremony of the Cardiovascular Health Technology R&D Center (Preparatory) was successfully held at Peking University Lin-gang International S&T Innovation Center (PKU-IICSH). As a critical platform for Peking University’s technological innovation in Lin-gang Special Area, Shanghai, the Cardiovascular Health Technology R&D Center (Preparatory) was officially approved in December 2023, marking its official start of in-depth exploration and innovation in cardiovascular health technology.
A total number of 22 experts and scholars attended the ceremony, including Wang Hongyu, Director of the Cardiovascular Health Technology R&D Center (Preparatory) at PKU-IICSH, Director of the Vascular Health Research Center of Peking University Health Science Center, and Head of the Vascular Medicine Department at Peking University Shougang Hospital; Wang Aiping, Party Secretary of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xindu District, Chengdu; Zhang Fengru, Director of the Health Care for Senior Leaders Department at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital; Zhao Qing, Chief Physician of the Cardiology Department at the Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai; Li Zhaojun, Director of the Ultrasound Department at Shanghai General Hospital; Wang Jingkun, Standing Vice President of the Yunnan Baiyao Central Research Institute; Ren Yangang, Director of the Editorial Department of
Medical Review affiliate to Peking University Health Science Center; and Ding Yueyou, Director of the Cardiology Department at Shanghai Eighth People's Hospital.
Zhang Weiwei, the deputy director of PKU-IICSH, delivered a welcome speech, providing detailed information about PKU-IICSH’s construction and the development of Yanyuan Fund.
Professor Wang Hongyu introduced the preparatory work and future plans for the Cardiovascular Health Technology R&D Center, emphasizing the need to advance R&D of cardiovascular health evaluation technologies, related equipment, and pharmaceutics based on consensus among cardiovascular health technology experts.
Experts engaged in a heated discussion about the center's future plans and responsibilities in cardiovascular health technology innovation and reached a consensus that cardiovascular diseases are one of the significant global health challenges. The establishment of this R&D center will help integrate interdisciplinary research resources, which is crucial for promoting cardiovascular health technology innovation and improving public cardiovascular health. Representatives from the business sector shared their views on the development prospects and market demands of the cardiovascular health technology industry, calling for closer Industry-University-Research cooperation to drive technological innovation and contribute to society.
The successful holding of this ceremony not only signifies the strategic layout of PKU-IICSH in cardiovascular health technology R&D but also highlights the substantial progress made in advancing medical technology innovation and its transformation.
