Last night (October 17th), PKU-DSLLH 27th was successfully held at the Dishui Lake Theatre. Professor Zhang Yiwu from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of PKU was invited to give a special lecture on Cultural Development and the New Three Things' of Culture.

At the lecture, Prof. Zhang started with a review of the cultural development process and systematically expounded on the new platforms, new expectations, and new public demands for cultural development in the new era. He pointed out that the rise of the middle-income group and the emergence of the Z-generation are driving the reconstruction of consumption, identity, and lifestyle. Prof. Zhang emphasized that China is experiencing a critical turning point in enhancing cultural confidence and expanding global influence. In the face of external pressures such as Western "decoupling" and "de-risking", the uniqueness of China's development path is increasingly demonstrating the exemplary significance of a new path for civilization.

Prof. Zhang focused on analyzing five major trends in cultural development: digital transformation, the revival of traditional culture, the vitality of cultural creation, the rise of new cultural tourism consumption, and the construction of global influence. Through cases such as the surge in sales of The Last Shaman of East Ewenkj driven by Dong Yuhui's live-streaming, he vividly illustrated the profound impact of changes in cultural dissemination methods on social life. At the same time, he elaborated on the rise logic and global expansion trend of the "New Three Things" of culture represented by online literature, micro-short dramas, and distinctive games. Finally, he pointed out that cultural innovation should be based on historical roots and a global perspective, "taking the past and the present to establish a new school", and with an attitude of independent creation and confident exploration, continuously release the vitality of cultural innovation.

During the interactive exchange session, the audience discussed topics such as "inclusiveness and confidence in cultural development", "establishing evaluation systems for emerging cultural forms such as web dramas", and "interpreting the cultural mentality of young people". Prof. Zhang pointed out that Chinese society has both a strong sense of cultural identity and a high degree of openness and inclusiveness, and the mainstream always promotes cultural innovation in a dynamic balance. Regarding the issue of award settings for micro-short dramas, he emphasized the need to establish a positive evaluation mechanism for the industry, integrating professional reviews and public feedback, and paying particular attention to the key role of platforms in the development of the industry. For social and cultural phenomena such as "lying flat" and "anxiety" that young people are concerned about, Prof. Zhang believes that we should face the phased problems in development, and at the same time, with a developmental perspective, see the solution space brought by social resilience. Cultural works should reflect the anxiety of reality while also conveying patience and confidence.

Zhu Xuming, the Party Secretary of the Comprehensive Party Committee of the Lingang Special Area and a Second-Class Inspector, attended the event and presented a commemorative plaque. More than 250 citizens attended the lecture on site; the lecture was also live-streamed online through the Humanistic Dishui Lake Douyin account and PKU-IICSH video account.
